Planning/Suggestions
Communication is the key to a successful photo program. While Sportography can take virtually all the work out of your hands, the one thing we can't do on our own is create awareness. When people know about photo day, they're prepared and on time. This shortens any lines, allows us to work on schedule and gets everyone off to their game as quickly as possible. Here are some tips for doing this:
  • Pick a photo date when there aren't any other significant town activities that may result in large numbers of players missing from their group photo. Opening day festivities and picnic days can work great.

  • Consider running your photo day indoors and/or on weeknights. Weekends can be hectic enough, with games; practices … While the choice is of course yours; many of our clients achieve the greatest success when photo day is simply that - for photos!

  • Post your photo date on your calendar and website as soon as dates have been chosen.

  • When a photo schedule is created, make sure it is posted on websites, at concession stands, passed-out at coaches meetings … Every group will be given a specific time/place to come for photos - we must notify the coaches and in turn the parents to ensure that this is followed.

  • Make sure blank order forms are given out to the groups 1-2 weeks prior to photo day. Any earlier and they will be lost, any later and parents won't have enough time to review and complete prior to photo day. Reinforce the importance of this to coaches, so they know how critical their diligence is in ultimate success.

  • Book your photo day early, perhaps even immediately after the season! Booking early locks in your date(s) of choice, and provides us with the advanced notice needed to do our job, and ensure a picture perfect process. Even if you don’t know many of the details, it’s a good idea to reserve a date – it can always be changed later.
